The SHIP

The ship was a 4 week apprenticeship designed with passionate people in mind. We wanted to give local creatives the opportunity to work with professional artists in their fields, develop a personal voice and vision, and learn to execute concepts within a team.

Through focused departments and group sessions, we zoomed in on fundamentals like establishing a strong storyline, developing a character, and sourcing supporting elements.

Our 2022  final project was a multi-set, life sized playing card shoot featuring the queen of hearts, jack of diamonds, king of spades, and the joker….

The ship team put incredible intentionality into each component, crafting an individual storyline for each character around one singular concept— A kingdom is not always as strong as it appears, and the only way to survive a lie is to brutally face the truth.

Older & Wiser along with 10 professional mentors, and 3 art organizations, wanted to share some of the tools needed to discover + develop the artist within because we care about the future of art in our community, and that it is sustained one person at a time.

We held an exclusive premier at the @appellcenter during York Arts Week to unveil a multi-set, life sized playing card shoot featuring the queen of hearts, jack of diamonds, king of spades, and the joker…. On the BIG SCREEN IN THE CAPITOL THEATER

This experience was a night of elegance, enchanted with jazz and glittering individuals dressed to the nines. Everyone was a celebrity worth capturing in a glamour shot

As one of the most highest attended York Arts Week events, the premier felt like something york city is craving… a spot for creatives to celebrate what they accomplished, share opinions on art, and most of all resonate with and recognize oneself in a work of art.

As digital + social media pushes real people further and further to the side and prioritizes monetization and ads, O&W is determined to bolster events that connect, inspire, and engage local creatives in our community IN REAL LIFE experiences full of creativity, self-reflection, and glittering everyday people of york city.
